Iraq must certainly be considered a rather difficult market, given the current instability in certain parts of the country. However, its vast oil resources and the urgent need for investment after more than two decades of war, sanctions and general neglect offer tremendous business opportunities.

Substantial investment is required in many key sectors such as refining, electricity or healthcare. This potential is particularly attractive for German companies many of which have been engaged in Iraq during the 1970s and 1980s. Against this background, the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce has joined forces with the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) and the German Near and Middle East Association (NUMOV) to organize the 3rd German-Iraqi Business Conference on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.

This extraordinary event will inform about current business opportunities and business practices in Iraq and offer a platform to meet Iraqi officials and business people.
